Baptisms

God’s Grace, a Gift Freely Given

Considering baptism for yourself or a member of your family? Baptism is among the great joys of Mystic Congregational Church. It is a delight to welcome another new member into the body of Christ and into the particular community of faith at our open and affirming church in Mystic, Ct.

In the United Church of Christ anyone is welcome to be baptized: babies, adolescents and adults. To begin the process of Baptism, contact Pastor Christa to schedule an appointment to talk about your faith journey, your desire to be baptized, and schedule a date for the baptism. We look forward to welcoming you into our community of faith through a Congregational Church baptism.

Baptism for Children and Adults

Baptism is both a welcome into the whole body of Christ and also into the life of our particular congregation.

At Mystic Congregational Church, baptism is a congregational celebration. We celebrate baptisms in the context of Sunday morning worship because we believe that baptism is both a welcome into the whole body of Christ and also into the life of our particular congregation. The waters of baptism are for all and we encourage families and candidates to understand that the promises made around the waters are to become full members of life and activity of the church.

In the United Church of Christ we celebrate two sacraments: Baptism and Holy Communion. We understand Baptism to be an outward sign of an inward grace, meaning that we can see the waters, the congregation and those making promises and trust that God’s blessing is present and welcoming the new member.
