Memorials and Funerals

The Funeral and Memorial worship services at Mystic Congregational Church bring comfort and closure to family and friends who have lost a loved one. These life events celebrate the good news of resurrection, give thanks for and celebrate the life of the one who has died, and console those who mourn.

“In life and in death, we belong to God.” Romans 14:8

In our gathering, we give thanks for the gift of life and the gift of life eternal. These important rituals bring comfort to those who mourn with the assurance that nothing in life or death can separate us from the love of God.

The Service

Our Congregational church memorial and funeral services are held either in our peaceful sanctuary or at the graveside. Services are planned  in collaboration with Pastor Christa and the family in meetings that will precede the service.

Music

Music for the service is designed to affirm our faith in God’s power over death, and the assurance of the communion of saints. Musical selections are planned in coordination with our Director of Music, Andrew Howell.

Committals in the Memorial Garden

Across from the main church building on Broadway is the Mystic Congregational Church Memorial Park and Dreher Garden. The Park is both a memorial to Rev. George Kelsey Dreher, Pastor Emeritus and a memorial garden for members and immediate family. The garden is a quiet and final resting place for the ashes of church members. If you want to learn more about the Memorial Garden, contact the church office at office@mysticucc.org.
