Music

Music is an integral part of worship at Mystic Congregational Church. Our music program welcomes adults and children of all ages and skill levels who wish to participate in a meaningful ministry through music. We have opportunities for all ages to sing in adult and youth choirs, play bells, and play their instruments. Our goal is to provide music that will touch the heart and move the spirit to a closer relationship with God and with others. In our diverse music, we aim to communicate and strengthen our faith, hope, and love.

Feeling inspired? If you would like more information on any of these programs, or would like to join our congregational church music team, we would be so happy to have you with us! Reach out to our Director of Music Andrew Howell at andrew@mysticucc.org. We have a spot waiting, just for you!

Adult Choir

Leading the hymns and providing special music to enhance our worship experience, our Adult Choir sings at our 9:30 a.m. Sunday services throughout the program year, from September through June. Our Congregational vocal choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. This group comprises approximately 20 singers who come from varied musical backgrounds, but share a love of singing and a desire to come together in a community of song. All are welcome to join, although some choral singing experience is helpful.

The Band

The MCC Band is made up of a core group of guitar, bass, and piano, as well as any other instruments or voices that are available and willing to join in and have some fun! The ensemble rehearses and participates in services on an ad hoc basis. We are always looking for other people to join this group, so if you play an instrument or want to sing a solo with the MCC Band, come make a joyful noise with us!

Bell Choir

The MCC Bell Choir rings in our services five or six times per year, rehearsing from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evenings during the program year, from September through June. Our core group of around a dozen ringers plays three octaves of bells, and we are always looking for other people to join us. While experience playing bells is not required to join the group, some type of musical background, and more specifically the ability to count in a time signature, is extremely helpful.

Youth Choir

The MCC Youth Choir welcomes all children ages 7 and up. The only requirement is being able to read words; we will work on reading the music together! The kids rehearse each week on Sunday mornings, following the 9:30 a.m. service (plus a quick stop-in at coffee hour for a treat!), for about 45 minutes. The kids sing their own musical offerings or pieces with the adults on the first Sunday of each month, at the 9:30 a.m. service.
